Rita Barker O'Leary, 86, Mount Kisco Resident Was Artist, Golf Champion MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Rita Barker O'Leary, of Mount Kisco and Bass River, Mass., died at the age of 86. O'Leary was born in Philadelphia on April 26, 1929, the oldest of four daughters, to Margaret M. and Paul A. Barker. O'Leary was a gifted artist and her artistic abilities included painting beautiful oil and watercolors. She loved doing ceramics with her children and nieces. She attended Immaculata University, majoring in home economics and was a varsity basketball player. She was also a talented cook. O'Leary was also a talented golfer, winning her first tournament at Llanerch C…

Carolyn Janet Rohlfs O'Connell, 89, Ossining High Grad OSSINING, N.Y. -- Carolyn Janet Rohlfs O’Connell, 89, of Marietta, Ohio and formerly of Rockport, Maine, died Sunday, July 12, at Brookdale Senior Living in Marietta. She was a graduate of Ossining High School. O'Connell was born April 27, 1926 in Yonkers, daughter of the late Emily Josephine (Lawrence) and Hermann H. Rohlfs. She was a 1944 graduate of Ossining. O’Connell had been a homemaker and had worked as a secretary at Thomas Cook Travel Agency in New York City. After her marriage, she lived in New Jersey and Massachusetts and retired in 1990 to Maine. Wilton Runner Wins Age Group At Prestigious New York Race WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton runner Mary Zengo won her age group and finished fourth among all women in the Masters Division at Sunday’s Boilermaker 15K race in Utica, N.Y. Zengo ran 1:00:39, a pace of 6:31 for the 9.3-mile race. She finished first in the 50-54 division and was fourth among women 40-and-up and earned $500. Zengo was 24th among a women’s field of 5,376 runners. There were 11,576 finishers in the race.

Single Family Home Sales Jump 8.4 Percent In Westchester In Second Quarter WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Second quarter sales zoomed up 8.4 percent for single family homes in Westchester County compared to the same quarter in 2014, according to figures released by the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. Sales escalated 14.8 percent in the four counties in the HGAR report. They are Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Orange. Realtors in the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service, a subsidiary of HGAR, reported a total of 3,669 closed residential transactions in the four-county service territory, 474 more than last year. 2 Rowers From Saugatuck Rowing Club In Westport Named To National Team WESTPORT, Conn.– Two Westport teens from the Saugatuck Rowing Club will compete in the 2015 World Junior Rowing Championships in Rio de Janeiro from Aug. 6 to 9 after earning a berth in last week’s trials. Oliver Bub, 17, and Lucas Manning, 17, are both Westport residents and Staples High School students. They dominated the trials’ best two-of-three format, following their morning final win Monday, July 6 with an afternoon win, posting a time of 7:43.28.
