Teacher Who Sexually Abused 15-Year-Old Long Island Student Dodges Prison A former Long Island high school teacher won't spend a day in prison after admitting that he sexually abused a 15-year-old student. Former Babylon High School teacher Timothy Harrison, age 48, of Oak Beach, was sentenced to three years of probation in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Nov. 27. Bicyclist Struck, Killed On Capital Region Road A 62-year-old man has died after being struck by a pickup truck while bicycling on a busy roadway in the region. The Albany County incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in Colonie, on Central Avenue near Elmwood Street. A preliminary investigation found that Joseph Crandall was riding eastbound on Central Avenue in the lane closest to the curb when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck and ejected from his bike. Missing Capital Region Man Found Dead The search for a missing man from the region has ended in tragedy. Albany County resident Richard Ryther, age 71, of Glenmont, was reported missing Friday, Nov. 24. On Sunday, Nov. 26, Bethlehem Police announced that Ryther was found dead in a wooded area at the Moh-He-Con-Nuck Nature Preserve. The preserve is located just yards from Ryther’s home on River Road. His death does not appear suspicious, police said. The Albany County Coroner’s Office will determine an official cause of death. New Update: Missing Capital Region Woman Found This story has been updated. A woman from the region who had been missing nearly 24 hours has been found. Rensselaer County resident Emily Dziamba, age 30, of North Greenbush, had last been seen at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26. In an update Monday afternoon, Nov. 27, North Greenbush Police said Dziamba was located "safe and sound." 'Disgusted': Jail Guard Forces Long Island Inmate Into Sex Act, DA Says A corrections officer at a Long Island jail is accused of forcing an inmate to perform a sex act on him. Jason Middleton, age 35, of Central Islip, was arrested Friday, Nov. 24, stemming from an alleged incident at the Suffolk County jail in Riverhead. An investigation found that between April and September 2023, Middleton escorted an inmate into a utility walkway between jail cells where he knew was hidden from security camera view. Francis Warner, age 41, of Brentwood, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to Suffolk County Police. Warner owns Warner Brothers Air Max HVAC, based in Medford. A North Bellport man told police he hired Warner in October 2023 to do HVAC work on his home and had paid Warner $3,850. Condoms, Rope Found On NY Man Who Blackmailed Minors Into Sending Nudes, Feds Say A New York man is in federal custody after allegedly blackmailing several underage girls into sending him sexually explicit images. Long Island resident Brandon Kern, age 29, of Bayport, was arraigned on multiple charges in Central Islip federal court on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Fairfield County Trio Shoplifts $1K Worth Of Merchandise From Walmart, Police Say Three women are facing charges after they were allegedly caught stealing nearly $1,000 in merchandise from a Walmart store in the region. The New Haven County incident happened Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Milford at the Walmart on Boston Post Road, according to police.
