Greenwich Cop Returns To Work After Losing A Leg To Amputation GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Police welcomed marine officer Frank DiPietro back to full day, and he is now one of a handful of officers who have returned to full duty after missing a limb. DiPietro broke his right leg in a 2014 accident. Complications following the accident forced physicians to amputate the lower part of the leg. DiPetro had surgery on the leg last November at Yale New-Haven hospital. Prior to the amputation, physicians tried a variety of methods to save the leg, including rehabilitation, therapy and surgery.
