Competitive Darien Sailor Sets Sights On Medal at Paralympic Games DARIEN, Conn. -- Competition is what drives Ricky Doerr, a member of Noroton Yacht Club in Darien. Always has, most likely always will. Service Dog Brings Comfort To Twin Darien Boys Dealing With Seizures DARIEN, Conn. -- Lindsey Clark knew a service dog could help her twin 8-year-old boys, both of whom suffer from the epileptic condition Dravet Syndrome. Gene Wilder, 83, Of 'Blazing Saddles,' 'Willy Wonka' Dies At Stamford Home STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford resident Gene Wilder, who appeared in "Blazing Saddles" and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," among other films, died Monday from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was 83. Wilder lived on Scofieldtown Road in Stamford, and made annual appearances at The Avon in Stamford. He lived with his wife of 25 years, Karen Boyer. He was married to Gilda Radner 1984-89. Sen. Chris Murphy Steps Off For Walk Across Connecticut FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy is taking a long stroll across Connecticut, and could be in Fairfield County by the end of the week. Murphy, a first-term Democrat, started his walk Monday in Voluntown and plans to head west.
