Ridgefield Academy Starts New School Year With 550-Plus Students RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield Academy welcomed more than 550 students in its four campuses as a new school year started last week. Ridgefield Academy celebrates its 43rd year, while its Ridgefield campus has been home to K-8 students since 1999. Over the years, the school has expanded to serve more children by opening three satellite preschools in Redding and Westport as well as Bedford, N.Y. The school continues to grow and thrive. Rain Threat Could Dampen Weekend Plans In Bridgeport FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Fairfield County residents can expect rain to impact their weekend plans, but Saturday and Sunday are unlikely to be a total washout. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were forecast for early Saturday morning, with mostly cloudy skies for the rest of the day. Stamford Police Warn Residents Of Phone Scam STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford Police are warning residents of a phone scam after receiving numerous complaints from residents. The Stamford Police Department Financial Crimes unit is investigating the use of telephone number 203-275-6792. Citizens are receiving messages from this number asking for donations. When calling this number, a message from a female with a southern accent comes on, and purports herself from being from the Stamford Police Department. Ness Golf Tournament In Norwalk Benefits Burn Center NORWALK, Conn. -- A golf tournament to support Connecticut’s only regional burn center and to celebrate the life of a local young man who was treated at the Bridgeport Hospital facility will be held on Sept. 12 in Norwalk.
