Pleasantville Prepares For Annual 5K Run PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Community Scholarship Fund of Pleasantville's Annual 5K Run/Walk for Education will return on Saturday, May 14.  Runners can participate in the 5K individually or as a three-person relay team. There will also be a mile-long fun run.  This year's fun run will go on a new course to Manville Road. then onto Great Oak and finish on Washington Avenue. Tarrytown Celebrates Rotary Duck Derby TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The 8th annual Rotary Rubber Ducky Derby and YMCA Healthy Kids Day took place at Patriot's Park on Saturday, April 30.  Sunshine emerged just in time for families to watch the toy ducks "race" down Andres Brook.  Hope Hose and Conqueror Fire Depts. removed winter debris from Andres Brook before the race. They also pumped water into the stream to ensure prompt, smooth sailing from the ducks.  The winner of each of the seven heats competed in a final race for the grand prize, which was won by Philip Johnson. Clarkstown Students Hold Outdoor Shopping Extravaganza Benefit CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown students will attempt to raise $5,000 to fulfill a local child's wish at the Clarkstown Outdoor Shopping Extravaganza and Festival on Saturday, May 7.  The event takes place at the Germonds Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Vendors will sell clothing, jewelry, home goods, accessories and more.  The extravaganza will also feature a special section of handmade items by Rockland artists and surprise appearances.  Students from Clarkstown South High School, Clarkstown North High School and Felix V. Festa Middle School will participate in the Make-a-Wish benefit.

Fire Guts Monroe Home In Stevenson Section Of Town MONROE, Conn. -- A fire gutted a home on Downs Road early Monday morning in the Stevenson section of Monroe.  The fire broke out just before 1 a.m. at the house, which was being renovated and was not occupied at the time.  Around 30 volunteer firefighters from the Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, Monroe Volunteer Fire Department and Stepney Fire Department worked to extinguish the fire. Congregation Sons Of Israel Hosts Soup In A Jar For Ossining Food Pantry OSSINING, N.Y, -- Congregation Sons of Israel will host Soup in a Jar to benefit Ossining Food Pantry on Sunday, May 15. Volunteers will scoop beans, spices and other ingredients into mason jars, which will be given to Ossining Food Pantry.  The contents of the mason jars can be later mixed with a can of tomatoes and water to create a healthy, homemade pot of soup.
