Two Brewster High Students Sign Letters Of Intent BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Brewster High School athletes and boyhood friends Mike Delfay and Brian Valedon recently signed their letters of intent on the same morning.  Delfay will attend Northeastern University in Boston this fall. He is a cross country and both indoor and outdoor track athlete.  Valedon, a swimmer, will join the Hoosiers at Indiana University.  Athletic Director Dean Berardo described the two young men as “exceptional athletes.”  “They are students who have represented their school and community with great distinction,” Berardo said

SPCA Of Westchester Helps Saves Dogs From Illegal Meat Market WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- SPCA of Westchester has partnered with the Soi Dog Foundation to save victims from the illegal meat trade.  The Soi Dog Foundation works to rescue dogs that have been captured in Thailand. Victims of the dog meat trade are often grabbed from the streets or abducted from families, then crammed into wire cages and transported to be butchered for their meat.  Honey Blue, Carmel and Indy are three such dogs that arrived at the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor earlier this week. Rockland County's Homeless Population Rises In 2016 CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Rockland County's homeless population is on the rise, according to lohud.com A Point-in-Time Count survey found 141 homeless people currently in Rockland County, a nearly 20 percent increase from 117 in 2015, lohud.com reported. Putnam Offers Free Hepatitis C Testing BREWSTER, N.Y. -- The Putnam County Department of Health will observe National Hepatitis C Testing Day with free tests on Thursday, May 19.  “Health officials encourage everyone in this age category to take this one-time test, regardless of any specific risk,” said County Executive MaryEllen Odell.
