Dutchess County Plans Special Memorial Day Events
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Dutchess County will observe Memorial Day with two special ceremonies during the holiday weekend. A ceremony and vigil will take place on the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park on Sunday, May 29, at 8 p.m. The vigil will take place at the flag pole in the Walkway's center and will feature a retired flag ceremony with the Pleasant Valley American Legion and Highland Veterans of Foreign Wars. North Salem Honors The Fallen With Memorial Day Parade
NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- North Salem will remember local war dead on Memorial Day with a parade. Local Girl and Boy Scouts, 4-H, Lions Club, the Croton Falls Fire Department and American Legion Post 1866 will march in the parade, as will various local elected officials. The North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps and local youth sports leagues often march as well. North Salem High School's marching band will provide the music. SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- St. John's Episcopal Church will host "Tastes of the Vine" on Saturday, June 4. The event will feature friendly conversation, hors d'oeuvres and live music from local musicians including Quadrasaurus, Joyful Noyz and more. Broken Water Main Shuts Down Water Supply For 21 Yonkers Homes
YONKERS, N.Y. -- The City of Yonkers' Department of Public Works has temporarily turned off the water supply to 21 homes due to a water main break on Ritchie Drive. The water main break occurred Friday, May 20. Traffic on Ritchie Drive is closed from Wendover Road to Marshall Road, but residents are able to access their homes. The city's Office of Emergency Management provided bottled water and other supplies to affected residents. Water service is expected to return by Monday.
