Dutchess Interfaith Council Promotes Solidarity Walk For Muslims POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Dutchess Interfaith Council will host a solidarity walk for Muslims at Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie on Sunday.  The walk will take place from 5:30-7 p.m.  Walkers should assemble at Walkway Park's east gate on either Washington Street or Parker Avenue.  First Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a vegetarian potluck iftar and program for Ramadan after the walk from 7:15-8:30 p.m.  The church is at 325 Mill St. in Poughkeepsie.

Man Charged With Assault In Yorktown After Domestic Incident YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police arrested a man from the Bronx after a domestic incident on Sunday, May 15.  Giuseppe E. Sanacore, 50, was charged with attempted assault in the third degree.  According to Yorktown Police, a call placed at 5:11 p.m. reported a domestic incident and attempted assault on Old Kitchawan Road.  Sanacore voluntarily appeared at Yorktown Police Headquarters on Wednesday, May 25, where he was placed under arrest, processed, arraigned and released on his own recognizance.  He was issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the alleged victim.

Armonk-Based IBM Develops New Chemical Compound To Kill Viruses ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM has reportedly developed a chemical compound that kills viral infections, including Ebola, Zika, herpes, influenza and more, according to News 12.  The Armonk-based company's "magic bullet" compound purportedly kills the virus on contact and can be used in cleaning products such as antiviral wipes and soaps, News 12 reported. IBM and Singapore-based partner Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology say it can eventually be turned into a medicine to protect cells from viruses, said News 12. Registration Opens For New Rochelle Summer Shape Fitness Academy NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Registration for the City School District of New Rochelle's 2016 Summer Shape Fitness Academy opens Wednesday.  Registration will take place in the New Rochelle High School cafeteria from 6-8 p.m.  Summer Shape Fitness Academy is open to all third- through seventh-graders.
