Charles 'Kush' Popeck, 79, Wallington Resident
WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Charles "Kush" Popeck, of Wallington, died on Tuesday, Dec 27. He was 79.
Born in Passaic, Popeck grew up in Elmwood Park and Garfield. As a young man, he was a semi-pro bowler. He was self-employed at BG News in Lyndhurst.
"Family was very important to him," information from the funeral home noted. "He was an avid sports enthusiast, he loved working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and traveling with Ginny and his friends."

Wyckoff Groups Honor Vets, Restore Vandalized Church Cemetery
WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Two Wyckoff organizations are giving back to the community, helping to honor those who have gone.In the last month, the Wyckoff Area Garden Club placed wreaths on the graves of veterans at the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery, and local Girl Scouts raised money to help repair headstones that were vandalized there this fall.
On Dec. 17, members of the WAGC and others participated in a Wreaths Across America ceremony, placing wreaths at each of the 214 veteran graves in the cemetery. The group, itself, funded 40 of those wreaths.

William Oliver Tuite, 69, of Hackensack
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- William Oliver Tuite, of Hackensack, died on Tuesday, Dec. 27. He was 69. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Tuite served in the Navy for 20 years. He then went on to work for General Electric Company as an engineer in Italy; France; Lynn, Massachusetts; and White Plains, New York.
He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Judith Lynne Possinger, 76, Wyckoff Resident
WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Judith Lynne Possinger, of Wyckoff, died on Wednesday, Dec. 21. She was 76.Born in 1940 to the late Clarence and Harriet Possinger, she was a long-time resident of the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Wyckoff.
She is survived by her cousins, Marsha Herrling of Princeton, James Maxwell of Brattleboro, Vermont, and Alice May Harris of Palm City, Florida.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Lois M. Nitus, of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Thursday, Dec. 22. She was 89.
Before she retired in 1983, Nitus was a secretary at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hasbrouck Heights for 30 years. Before that, she was a medical secretary for Bristol Meyers in New York City.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and she was a member of its choir and the WELCA group. She was also a member of the REACH Program, the Leisure Club and the Woman's Club, all in Hasbrouck Heights. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and oil painting.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Claire Kleinfeld Strully, of Fair Lawn, died on Sunday, Dec. 18. She was 93.Born in 1923 in Brooklyn, Strully is survived by her children, Vincent Strully Jr. of Boston, daughter Maxine Strully of Fair Lawn and daughter-in-law Marylou Sudders. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Strully.
A funeral service was held at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, in Paramus, last Thursday, and she was buried at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, in Totowa.

Arthur Ullrich, 89, Longtime Franklin Lakes Resident
FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Arthur Ullrich, of Franklin Lakes, died on Dec. 21. He was 89.Born in Hawthorne, Ullrich served as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He's lived in Franklin Lakes since 1975. Before he retired in 1990, he worked for 41 years for PSE&G in Clifton, starting as a lineman and retiring as a construction supervisor.

PIERMONT, N.Y. -- Mary Anne "Maureen" O'Connell, of Piermont, died on Wednesday, Dec. 7. She was 82.Born in Manhattan, O'Connell graduated from Hunter College with three master's degrees. She worked until her retirement as a reading specialist for the New York City and North Rockland junior high schools.
