East Rutherford School Receives 'Asthma Friendly Award' EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- In late May, Alfred S. Faust Elementary's school nurse Kristen Webb presented the East Rutherford Board of Education with the Asthma Friendly Award her school had earned. Asthma is a chronic disease in which the airways of the lungs become swollen or inflamed, and it can make it difficult to breathe. It is a serious condition which can't be cured but it can be controlled. This award was given in recognition of the school's efforts to enhance the quality of education for students and staff that face the challenges of this disease. The school completed the six steps…

The Bergenfield Health Department and the Advanced Laser & Skin Cancer Center of Teaneck are partnering to provide a free screening on Thursday, June 9. Most skin cancers, including melanoma, can be cured if detected early. The free Skin Cancer Screening Program is to promote early detection and prompt treatment of skin cancer.
