Yorktown Graduates Class Of 2016 YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown High School held its 2016 commencement ceremony Saturday afternoon, June 25, at the SUNY Purchase campus, and diplomas were presented to 309 graduating seniors. Yorktown High School musicians performed and school Principal Joseph DeGennaro addressed the crowd along with Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano. Jillian Barry was this year's valedictorian and James WoMa was the salutatorian. Demarest Ambulance Corps Members Honored DEMAREST, N.J. -- Demarest's mayor and council recognized members of the Demarest Volunteer Ambulance Corps on Monday evening for their response to a multiple-injury car accident in May. Ambulance 426 responded to a May 17 accident in Closter, with a crew of Chief Joseph Fortunato III, driver/EMR Robert Schiraldi, EMT Maria Selle and EMT Chris Cardaci. All the injured parties were transported to HackensackUMC, and the corps removed one of the victims from the car and provided basic life support, including cervical spine precautions. Bogota Library Crafting Will Continue All Summer BOGOTA, N.J. -- The Bogota public library will host a craft workshop throughout the summer, in conjunction with its summer reading program, each Thursday from June 30 until Aug. 18. Each week, the craft will coincide with the summer reading theme. No registration is necessary for the sessions. They'll run from 11 a.m. until noon, in the Senior Center on the second floor of the library. The tasting will also include balsamic vinegar, and a $50 basket will be raffled off.
