Yorktown Festival Returns On Sunday YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The sixth annual Yorktown Festival and Street Fair will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The fair will take place at Commerce Street and Veterans Road. It is sponsored by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce in association with the town of Yorktown. The fair will include music, food and demonstrations. At 2 p.m., the festival will feature a costume contest parade for dogs. Proceeds from the fair are donated to civic and nonprofit groups in Yorktown. More information is on the event website.

'Brew At The Zoo' Coming To Bridgeport In October BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport will host its second annual Brew at the Zoo on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The event will feature food, craft beers, live music and a silent auction. John Mayo, 80, Longtime Port Chester Resident PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- John Mayo, a long-time resident of Port Chester, died on Sept. 28 in Delray Beach, Fla. He was 80. Mayo was born on Aug. 12, 1934, in Port Chester to the Philip and Ester Meo. Mayo attended Port Chester High School. He was in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and later worked as a sheet rock taper. He married Clara Valona of Port Chester in 1973. They moved to Delray Beach, Fla. in 1995.
