Norwalk Workshop Awarded Grant To Track Asteroids NORWALK, Conn. -- The Fairfield County Makers' Guild, a nonprofit organization that operates a makerspace in Norwalk, has been awarded a $14,600 grant from SpaceGAMBIT, an international collaboration of space enthusiasts. The guild's proposed project, titled "Central Spark,” was submitted in response to SpaceGAMBIT's call for community-built, open-source projects in line with NASA’s Asteroid Grand Challenge. Benefit Planned In Darien To Help Twin Boys With Dravet Syndrome DARIEN, Conn. -- A benefit to support twin 6-year-old Darien boys who suffer from a severe form of epilepsy, Dravet syndrome, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Jimmy's Southside Tavern in Darien. The benefit runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include beer, wine, food and music. The cost is $50 and registration is available online. The event will raise money to defray medical costs for Jeremy and Miles Clark, who experienced their first seizures at just 6 months old. Western Connecticut In Danbury Adds Men's Hockey As NCAA Sport DANBURY, Conn. -- Western Connecticut State University in Danbury will be adding NCAA men's ice hockey as a Division III varsity intercollegiate program. The Colonials, who had been playing as a club program since 1994, will play a full schedule as an affiliated member of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference in the 2015-16 season.
