Fairfield Giants Cheerleaders Seek Donations For Florida Competition FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Giants Junior Midget cheerleading team will receive a donation from Russell's Speeders Car Wash for its trip to Florida in December -- and you can help. The car wash at 620 Villa Ave. in Fairfield will donate 8 percent of sales on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the team. The girls won the Regional championship last weekend and will be traveling to Orlando in December for a national competition. Norwalk Girls Help Lauralton Hall Win Class M Swim Title NORWALK, Conn. -- Girls from Norwalk helped the Lauralton Hall swim team win the Class M state championship Tuesday night at Wesleyan University in Middletown. Norwalk swimmers Dakota Meyer, Shannon Buttling, Lauren Buttling, Marisa Favano, Caroline Favano and Emma Lenskold helped the Milford school compile 605.5 points and edge Wethersfield, which finished with 553. Stamford Basketball Standout Commits To Middlebury STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford's Zach Baines, a senior basketball standout at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, has announced he will play for Middlebury College. Baines, a McDonald's All-American nominee, attracted widespread attention at a recent fall league game. The 6-foot, 5-inch forward has a 7-foot wingspan and is coming off an impressive junior season in which he helped the Dragons (21-4) win the New England Prep School Class C championship.
