Fairfield Giants Pee Wee Football Team Wins State Championship FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Giants football teams won three straight league championships from 2007 to 2009. On Sunday, they added another one. Led by a defense that allowed just two first downs, the Pee Wee Giants stuffed New Fairfield, 19-0, to win the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner title Sunday in Southbury. Stamford Baseball Standout Commits To University Of Hartford STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford pitcher Billy DeVito joined teammates of his East Coast Clippers baseball team for a post-game conference early last summer. Before his coach finished, DeVito was pulled aside to take a phone call. “It was the coach from Hartford,’’ said DeVito, who signed a letter of intent last week to attend the school on a baseball scholarship. “I was surprised because it was so quick. Greenwich's United Way 'Oktoberfest' Launches Fund Drive GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich United Way’s sixth annual “Oktoberfest” took place last month at Stamford’s Loading Dock where supporters enjoyed an evening of Bavarian festivities organized by co-chairs Melissa Levin and Erin McCall.
