New Luxury Rental Property In White Plains Holds Grand Opening WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Politicians and business executives attended a grand opening and ribbon cutting Wednesday, Nov. 12, at La Gianna, a 56-unit luxury rental property located at 10 DeKalb Ave. in White Plains. Mayor Tom Roach, along with Craig Rosenman, David Mann of the Lighthouse Enterprises and Daten Group Development and architect Philip Fruchter, cut the ribbon on the new rental space. Two Stepinac Football Players Receive College Offers WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Two Archbishop Stepinac football players received offers to play at the University of Rhode Island on Friday. Gavin Heslop, a cornerback and running back, and Dwayne Scott, a lineman, received offers from the Rams. Heslop has rushed for 397 yards and six touchdowns. The Yonkers resident also has three interceptions, including one he returned 80 yards for a touchdown. Veterans Treated To A Special Day In Weston WESTON,Conn. -- Weston residents honored military personnel on Veterans Day on Tuesday in a ceremony at Weston Town Hall. Veterans Gen. Richard Stephenson, Rod Rivera, Hal Matthews and Bob Peyreigne shared stories of their military services at Weston Middle School's Living History Museum. Brien McMahon Football Team Faces Key Game In Playoff Race FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Brien McMahon, Fairfield Prep and Danbury face important football games this weekend as all three teams try to remain in the race for league and state playoff berths. Greenwich's Pastore Named Metropolitan Golf Association Player Of The Year GREENWICH, Conn. -- David Pastore of Greenwich was named the 2014 Metropolitan Golf Association Player of the Year on Wednesday. Pastore, who plays out of Griffith Harris in Greenwich won the Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year Award. 87 Wilton Wahoos Honored At State Swimming Banquet WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Y Wahoo swim team was recognized for numerous achievements at Connecticut Swimming's annual awards banquet in early November. In all, 87 Wahoos were honored for academic achievement and/or top 16-ranking swims. Selection of the Top 16 is based upon swimmers who post the 16 fastest times in the state in each age group and individual events during the short-course and long-course season. MasterChef Contest Winner Plans Cooking Class In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- A cooking class with Luca Manfe, the season four winner of "MasterChef," will be held at The Italian Center in Stamford on Sunday, Nov. 23. The event will include a demonstration and book signing. The cooking class begins at noon. Manfe's cookbook will be available at a discounted rate of $15. Hen-Hud Grad Helps New Paltz Advance In Field Hockey Playoffs CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- Alex Gallo, a graduate of Hendrick-Hudson, scored the go-ahead goal Wednesday to lead SUNY New Paltz to a 6-3 win over Keene State in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Gallo, a senior from Cortlandt Manor, scored with just over 12 minutes remaining to put the Hawks ahead for good.
