Stamford Synchronized Skaters Medal At First Event Of Season STAMFORD, Conn. – Nearly 900 skaters traveled from the tri-state area and across the Eastern Seaboard to compete in the 15th Annual Terry Conners Synchronized Skating Open in Stamford this past weekend. New Canaan Football Team Looks To Add To State Title Legacy NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- State titles have become commonplace for the New Canaan High School football team since the turn of the century. The Rams have a chance to win another one on Saturday as they face their fiercest rival for the championship. Norwalk Football Player Named New England Lineman Of The Year NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk’s Tucker Gouin, a senior at King in Stamford, was named the 2014 New England Prep School Athletic Council Class C Lineman of The Year on Sunday. Gouin is the son of Dan and Kathy Gouin. His father is the head football coach at King. A four-year starter at King, the 6-foot, 2-inch, 280-pound Gouin started and played in 34 consecutive games. At center on offense, he amassed over 81 pancake blocks his senior year and 55 in his junior year. Darien's Football Archrival Stands In Way Of Ending State Title Drought DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien High School’s football team last won a state championship in 1996. The Blue Wave can end that drought this year, but standing in their way is their fiercest rival. Top-seeded Darien (12-0) advanced to the Class L Large School final Saturday with a 42-12 blowout of No. 4 Naugatuck. Ridgefield's West Makes History With World Cup Luge Win RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield teenager Tucker West, who became the youngest athlete to make the U.S. Olympic luge team last winter, is off to a fast start for the new season. West became the first American to win a singles race in 17 years last week when he raced to victory in a World Cup meet on his home track in Lake Placid, N.Y. Norwalk Cab Driver Stabbed, Dies In Early Morning Crash NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk cab driver died Monday morning after he was stabbed and then crashed his vehicle into a parked car on Grove Street, according to a report by WTNH.com. The report said Norwalk Police confirmed a stabbing at about midnight. The driver crashed into a car on Grove Street. The driver was losing blood when when he crashed his taxi and later died of his injuries. Police towed the taxi away from the scene at around 5 a.m. For the full WTNH report, click here.
