New Canaan's Allen Named State's Gatorade Player Of The Year NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan High School’s Zach Allen was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Connecticut. The award was announced Thursday. Allen, a 6-foot-6, 248-pound senior defensive end, linebacker and tight end has led the Rams to a 9-1 record as the team enters Saturday's Class L-Large state semifinals against Wethersfield. But the Blue Wave are just two games away from accomplishing both of those feats.
