Skaters From Stamford Synchronized Teams Win 3 Medals In Massachusetts STAMFORD, Conn. -- Each of the three lines from the Stamford- and Darien-based Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating team won a medal at the Colonial Classic Competition held last weekend at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Mass. The three-day event hosted 146 U.S. teams, which competed across every division from Beginner to Senior. Phyllis Ratliffe, 93; Pound Ridge Resident Served In Navy In WW II POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Phyllis Corinne Ratliffe, 93, of Blue Ash, Ohio, a longtime Pound Ridge resident, died Jan. 9. The youngest of three children, she was born to Genevieve and Robert More on Aug. 21, 1921 and raised in St. Paul, Minn. She attended Carelton College for two years until enlisting in the U.S. Navy on April 19, 1943. She served as a Link Instrument Flight Trainer in Hutchinson, Kan. until the end of World War II in September 1945. Phyllis married Thomas Ratliffe on March 3, 1945. Stamford's Tarpey Earns Player Of The Week Honors At William & Mary STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford's Terry Tarpey, a junior at William & Mary, was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week in men's basketball. Tarpey, who played at Fairfield Prep, became the first player in program history to record a triple-double in the Tribe’s 81-73 win over James Madison on Saturday. He was also named the league player of the week by the website College Sports Madness and shared the weekly league from the CAA with UNCW’s Freddie Jackson. Joan Reddy, 83, Lifelong Ossining Resident; Worked At Correctional Facility OSSINING, N.Y. -- Joan B. Reddy, 83, a lifelong resident of Ossining, died Thursday, Jan. 8. Reddy was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Ossining to Emile and Meletia (Dunstan) DeBrocky. She married James E. Reddy Jr. on Oct. 17, 1953, at St. Ann’s Church in Ossining. Reddy graduated from Ossining High School in 1949. She was the senior operator at Sing Sing Correctional Facility and retired after 25 years. Yonkers Football Star Wins Heart Of A Giant Award YONKERS, N.Y. -- Lincoln High School football player Jeremiah Minyard was honored last month with the Heart of a Giant Award. From the moment he was born, Minyard's determination and courage showed that he truly had a huge heart. Minyard was honored on Dec. 28 with the award by Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants. He received a trophy and the school received a $5,000 grant for the football team. Stamford's Tarpey Records Historic Triple-Double At William & Mary STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford’s Terry Tarpey became the first player in William & Mary basketball history to record a triple-double Saturday in the Tribe’s 81-73 victory over James Madison.
