Funeral Set For Hartsdale Man Killed In Wrong-Way Crash HARTSDALE, N.Y. -- Services for a New York Police Department detective and Hartsdale resident killed in a wrong-way crash will be held on Wednesday. Paul Duncan, 46, was killed Friday in an accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway. His car was hit by a wrong-way driver about 4 a.m. south of Route 100B. A wake is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Abyssinian Baptist Church, 132 Odell Clark Place, New York, his widow, Rechelle, said in a story on LoHud.com. Two Face Cocaine Possession Charges After Stop On Hutch WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester County police charged two Massachusetts men with cocaine possession following a car stop Saturday on the Hutchinson River Parkway, according to a report on LoHud.com. Police Lt. Thomas Murphy said in the report that police stopped the car for a cracked windshield and other violations. A search turned up a substance that tested positive for cocaine. Twelve bottles were found with cocaine. Sex Offenders Live Near Pre-K Programs, Report Says WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sex offenders live near prekindergarten schools in Mount Vernon, Yonkers, New Rochelle and White Plains, according to a report by the New York State Senate Coalition. A story from Gannett's Albany bureau said six sex offenders were found to be living near prekindergartens in Mount Vernon, three in Yonkers, two in New Rochelle and one in White Plains. The state Senate passed a package of bills last week that strengthen laws against sex offenders. Retired Putnam Investigator Pleads Not Guilty To Beating Suspect CARMEL, N.Y. -- A former Putnam County sheriff investigator pleaded not guilty to allegedly beating a suspect in the Carmel Court House last year, according to a News 12 story. In a video of the incident, Patrick Castaldo and another investigator Gerald Schramek are shown escorting suspected burglar Kenneth Defreitas out of the town court. The suspect then reaches for Schramek’s gun and is subsequently taken down by the two investigators. Redding Student Named To St. Lawrence Dean's List REDDING, Conn. -- David K. Wastrom, of Redding, has been named to the Dean's List at St. Lawrence University. Wastrom is a member of the Class of 2017 and is majoring in environmental studies English. Wastrom attended Joel Barlow High School. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
