Frank D. Gilroy, Noted Hudson Valley Playwright Frank D. Gilroy, who won a Pulitzer prize for his 1964, died on Saturday at home in Monroe, N.Y. He was 89. Gilroy also won a Tony and a Drama Critics’ Circle award for the play, “The Subject Was Roses.” He was also a screenwriter, film producer and director. Gilroy wrote more than 30 other plays, but “Roses” was the most successful. He also wrote screenplays for 10 films, and a host of other television productions. Norwalk's Slammer Tennis World Hosts Usta Tournaments NORWALK, Conn. -- Slammer Tennis World in Norwalk recently held two United States Tennis Association tournaments at Norwalk High School. Players competed in the 18-and-under, 16-and-under, 14-and-under and 12-and-under in the tournaments. Children from throughout the state competed in the tournament.
