Leukemia And Lymphoma Society's Walk In Rye Sheds Light On Group's Mission RYE, N.Y. -- The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) started hosting “Light The Night Walks” 16 years ago. On Saturday, Nov. 7, Rye Playland will host the Westchester County event for the eighth straight year. Mahwah Woman Named Northeast Conference Soccer Honor For Sacred Heart MAHWAH, N.J. -- Alex Mesropyan, a midfielder for the women's soccer team at Sacred Heart University, was named the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for her game-tying goal against Iona on Friday night. Mesropyan, a resident of Mahwah, played at Immaculate Heart Academy. She was an All-State and All-League selection, an NSCAA All-American and the NSCAA New Jersey Player of the Year. Ridgefield Teen Killed In Plane Crash Rose Quickly Through Scouting Ranks RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Rising to the Eagle Scout rank requires determination, leadership and years of work and focus. Ridgefield’s Ryan Adams made it look easy. Adams, 18, died in a plane crash Sunday in New York with Carey Depuy, also a Ridgefield resident. They were both freshmen at Colgate University. Adams achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at age 13. Bankruptcy Court Approves Sale Of 95 A&P Stores To Acme, Stop & Shop WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The sale of 95 A&P-owned stores to Acme and Stop & Shop was approved Monday by a bankruptcy court in White Plains. The sale includes 71 stores to Acme for $246 million and 24 to Stop & Shop for $124 million. Ridgefield Cross Country Coach Remembers Depuy As Fearless Leader RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The Ridgefield High School girls cross country team voted Carey Depuy as their team captain last summer. The choice made coach John Goetz nervous. “She had the personality,’’ Goetz said of Depuy, who died in a plane crash Sunday in New York. She and Ryan Adams died in the crash; both were 18-year-old freshmen at Colgate University. Miggs Burroughs Leaves His Artistic Imprint On Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Whether it has been by skill or happenstance, Miggs Burroughs has left his mark on Westport. Burroughs, a graphic artist who has lived in Westport for 65 years, designed the town flag, school district logo and last year, unveiled Tunnel Vision, an art gallery that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Federal Reserve Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged BERGEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Federal Reserve left key interest rate unchanged on Thursday, citing global problems and low inflation. The decision was one of the most anticipated by The Fed recent years. Interest rates set by the Fed have not changed appreciably since 2008.
