MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The schedule for garbage pickup for the week of Feb. 15 has been changed in observance of Presidents Day. The schedule is as follows: Feb. 15: no pickups Feb. 16: Southside - garbage pickup Feb. 17: Northside - garbage pickup; Southside - recyclables (bottles, cans and plastic) Feb. 18: Northside - recyclables; Southside - garbage and rubbish pickup Feb. 19: Northside - garbage and rubbish pickup In addition, alternate side of the street parking will be suspended on both sides of the street on Monday, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day.

Man Gets 10 Years For Sex Trafficking Of Minors At Stratford Hotels
STRATFORD, Conn. -- A former resident of Hartford was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors at hotels in Stratford and Milford. Wellington "Jamal" Brown, 26, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton to 126 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. “This defendant recruited and manipulated vulnerable young girls luring them into the cruel world of sex trafficking,” said U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Deirdre M. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Former Good Counsel Academy student Katherine Conner continued a Valentine's Day tradition for Burke Rehabilitation patients after the school's closure. “I used to attend GCA, and this was an annual event to make cards for Valentine’s Day," said Conner. NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The Newtown Public School District is implementing a new mobile app called Anonymous Alerts to stop bullying. “As part of Newtown Public Schools continuing efforts to improve the safety and security of students and staff, we are excited to launch Anonymous Alerts, a new safety communications tool," said Joseph V.
