Suspect Charged With Fleeing Flaming Darien Crash DARIEN, Conn. -- A Stratford man has been arrested almost two months after police said he fled a flaming car crash in Darien, according to the Darien Times. Renato Medythaler, 34, was allegedly nowhere to be found at the scene of a Dec. 13 accident where a 2015 Toyota Corolla caught on fire after it struck a tree, the Darien Times reported. Westport's Grand List Grows To $10.8 Billion WESTPORT, Conn. -- The 2015 Grand List in Westport came in at $10.8 billion, an increase of 7.8 percent compared with the 2014 Grand List, town officials said.  The Grand List is the sum of the net assessed value of all taxable property — real estate, motor vehicles, and personal property — in town. The 2015 Grand List's total was $10,876,602,613, compared with $10,092,436,351 for 2014, Westport Assessor Paul Friia announced.  Commercial values increased 10 percent and residential values increased 7.5 percent.  The combined increase in the real estate categories was 8.3 percent, 1 percent …

Putnam Humane Society Offers Valentine's Pictures With Pets PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Pet lovers can Valentine's photos of their pets at two upcoming events benefiting the Putnam Humane Society of Carmel. Brewster Feed Barn will host a pet pictures event on Jan. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Mahopac Feed Barn will host one on Feb. 6 from 11 to 4 p.m.  Appointments are not necessary for pet pictures. John Jay MS Students Take Virtual-Reality Tour Of Egypt LEWISBORO, N.Y. -- Sixth-graders at John Jay Middle School explored Egypt from the comfort of their classroom by using Google Cardboard.  Students engaged in the virtual reality experience through a Google Cardboard viewer, a smartphone and a free application called Egypt Chamber.  Humanities teacher Marcia Daley-Savo envisioned classroom applications for the technology after witnessing it in action at a conference.  Daley-Savo secured six smartphones from eBay with aid from the Katonah-Lewisboro School Foundation. She hopes to expand the use of technology into future units and classrooms.…
