Drug Dealer Admits To Selling Cocaine In Union, Ocean Counties: Prosecutors
A Kenilworth man admitted to selling cocaine throughout Ocean and Union counties, authorities said. Pedro Reyes-Sevilla, 32, pleaded guilty on Friday, Feb. 16 to possession of five ounces or more of cocaine with intent to distribute. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced the guilty plea in a news release on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Lakewood police officers, and investigators from Union and Ocean counties conducted a two-week-long investigation in January 2021. Deer Causes Scare At Central Jersey School After Hitting Glass Door
A shelter-in-place order at a Monmouth County elementary school turned into much a-doe about nothing. Howell Township police said a deer rammed into a glass door at the Griebling School on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Six Flags Great Adventure Sets Opening Date For New Glamping Resort
Six Flags Great Adventure has set an opening date for the Jackson Township resort's new luxury camping experience. Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa will open on Friday, June 14, and has begun accepting reservations on its website, according to a news release. The "glamping" resort will be in the middle of the 350-acre Six Flags Wild Safari which is home to more than 1,200 animals. Baby Seal Dies After Wandering Streets Of Jersey Shore City
A baby seal has died nearly two weeks after it was rescued while wandering around an Ocean City neighborhood. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the grey seal died on Monday, Feb. 19. The male pup received treatment for parasites and a possible respiratory infection from the Brigantine center's veterinarian. Driver Wanted In Hit-And-Run Crash That Killed Pedestrian In South Jersey
Police in Absecon are looking for whoever killed a pedestrian and left the scene of a crash, authorities said. The pedestrian died in the hit-and-run crash just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, Absecon police said in a news release. Plastic From Bottled Water Entangles Seal On NJ Beach
A Jersey Shore animal rehabilitation center rescued a baby seal tangled up in plastic wrapping from a case of bottled water. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC) said the female grey seal was found on the shore in Beach Haven at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. The pup was brought to MMSC's facility in Brigantine, and the plastic packaging was removed. The center's veterinarian examined the baby seal and found that the plastic had not cut into her neck. Violent Home Invasion Suspect Arrested In South Jersey
A Galloway Township man was arrested after he broke into someone's home and fought the person living there, authorities said. Joseph Aversa, 41, was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, Absecon police said in a news release.
