Staples High School Collects Change For Syria WESTPORT, Conn. -- Students at a Contemporary World Class at Staples High School are raising awareness about the Syrian crisis and funds for civilians affected by the ongoing violence in the country. Students in the class taught by Cathy Schager will host three events in the next few weeks. The first event will be a coin drive in which students and teachers will be asked to donate spare change into containers. Thanks A Million: Grant Offers Career Training For At-Risk Bridgeport Youth BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- LifeBridge Community Services of Bridgeport will be awarded $1 million by the U.S. Department of Labor to help youth ages 16-21 who are at risk of dropping out of public or alternative high school gain skills to serve their communities in justice careers. Danbury Teen Races To Silver Medal Finish In Marathon Debut DANBURY, Conn. -- The college years are all about self-discovery. Sometimes, as Danbury’s Ryan Fox learned on Saturday, those revelations don’t occur in a classroom or even a college campus. Fox, 19, finished second in the Charleston Marathon in South Carolina. He covered the 26.2 miles in his first attempt at the distance in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 52 seconds, an average of 6:19 per mile. Bethel Police Department Welcomes New Officers BETHEL, Conn. -- The Bethel Police Department welcomed three new officers to its force.Officers Amelia Fekieta, Garrett Vasquez and Jessenia Beamonte joined the Bethel department.
