Danbury Students Move Into Temporary Classrooms At Shelter Rock DANBURY, CONN. -- Students at Shelter Rock Elementary School in Danbury found themselves in new classrooms over the past week as the result of skyrocketing enrollment.Enrollment at Shelter Rock School has swelled to some 550 students, experiencing more rapid growth than any other school in the district. While the school added five new classrooms two years ago, even more space was necessary this year. Interim Principal Dawn Bartz and her staff moved the fourth grade into four new portable classrooms. Girls Basketball Coach At Wooster School In Danbury Nets 800th Win DANBURY, Conn. — Wooster School girls basketball coach Dave Nutt won his 800th varsity game Wednesday in the school's 48-16 victory over Masters. With the win, Wooster clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) tournament and is currently the No. 1 ranked Class E team in NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council). Danbury Purchases New Service Van For Senior Center DANBURY, CT – The City of Danbury has recently purchased a new service van for the Senior Center’s Van Transportation Program. A brief dedication ceremony will be held at Elmwood Hall on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 12:30 p.m. led by President of City Council Joseph Cavo and Director of Elderly Services Susan Tomanio, LCSW. “We are thrilled to have a brand new service bus for Elmwood Hall. Boyfriend Of Murdered Bridgeport Woman Arrested On Gun Charges BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Police arrested a local man on several gun possession charges less than a month after his girlfriend was gunned down on city streets, according to a story on CTPost.com. Kelvin Soto, 24, was taken into custody but U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents.
