'Shop And Dine Cortlandt' Returns In May CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The Town of Cortlandt will celebrate the 5th annual "Shop and Dine Cortlandt" month throughout May. This year's kickoff event will take place at Holy Smoke Restaurant on May 6 at 2 p.m. Shop and Dine Cortlandt is aimed towards bringing attention to businesses in Cortlandt as well as villages Croton-on-Hudson and Buchanan.  Participating businesses will provide special discount offers throughout May. Eastchester Spanish Students Win Awards From Teachers Group EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Three Eastchester Middle School students received awards from the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese on April 16.  Alexa Cantreva and Sophia Sabelja of Mary Leptak's seventh-grade Spanish class created the winning website of the Metropolitan New York Chapter's competition. They created a website in Spanish about Guatemala, its culture and history.  Sakura Abdel-Rahman from Katherine Shay's eighth-grade Spanish class won the chapter's poster competition for a work depicting symbols of Guatemalan culture.

Holocaust Survivor, Grandson Commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day ARMONK, N.Y. -- Cantor and holocaust survivor David Wisnia and his grandson Avi Wisnia will commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day with story and song at Congregation B'nai Yisrael on Thursday, May 5.  Seventy years after the liberation in 1945, David Wisnia embarked on a journey with Avi to reconnect with his roots and bring his story to a new generation.  Wisnia survived Auschwitz by singing to entertain the SS and cell block leaders. Melissa Wallace of Locust Valley was observed by a Tokeneke constable traveling down Searles Road. at a high speed, nearly hitting a pedestrian along the road and later reappearing traveling in the wrong lane of traffic, Darien Times reported.
