Interim Schools Chief Named Spackenkill Superintendent POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Spackenkill Union Free School District has announced its new superintendent, the Poughkeepsie Journal has reported. Mark Villanti, who's been the acting school chief since Oct. 31, will take the new position Jan. 18. Current superintendent Lois Powell is retiring, stepping down in January, according to the Journal. Villanti's contract will be for three and a half years, at a salary the board hasn't disclosed yet, the Journal reported. The contract still needs to be approved.
