Median Single Family Home Price Rises 12 Percent In Scarsdale WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Single family home sales slowed in the second quarter, but Scarsdale, Bronxville and some other lower Westchester communities saw a significant increase in home values. “Scarsdale is a bellwether community, and it’s as hot a market as we’ve seen,’’ said Chris Meyers, managing principal for Houlihan Lawrence. “There’s a wide variety of product in Scarsdale and all of them are doing pretty well. Notre Dame Of Fairfield Names New Girls Soccer Coach FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Former Norwalk High School Athletic Director Wayne Mones has been named the new girls soccer coach at Notre Dame High School of Fairfield. Mones retired recently from his position at Norwalk, where he served as athletic director for 10 years. He was previously the head coach at Central Catholic High School and Western Connecticut State University. Along with coaching, Mones will be on the faculty at Notre Dame as a full-time school counselor. He is the president and director of coaching for the all-girls Yankee United soccer club. The Rev. Rough Winter Contributes To Slow Home Sales In Putnam In 2nd Quarter PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. – Sales of single family homes dropped and median prices fell during the second quarter in Putnam County, where winter weather made it difficult for buyers and sellers to complete transactions. “I think we definitely saw the lingering effects of the winter weather,’’ said Chris Myers, managing principal for Houlihan Lawrence. “I think we’re also starting to see buyer fatigue. New Canaan's Campbell Named To U.S. Rowing Under-23 Team FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Two rowers from Westport and one from New Canaan were named to the United States team competing in the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Varese, Italy. Westport’s Elizabeth Youngling and Alexander Perkins were named to the team, along with New Canaan’s Andrew Campbell. Guenter Buetter of Wilton will be a coach on the team. The regatta begins July 23. Youngling, who is entering her senior year at the University of Virginia, will row on the Women’s Eight. 5 Wilton Running Club Athletes Qualify For Nationals WILTON, Conn. -- Five Wilton Running Club athletes qualified for the U.S.A. National Track and Field Championships this past weekend in the Region 1 Championships at Fitchburg, Mass. Angela Saidman led the way for Wilton with wins in the 800 and 1,500 in the 13-14-year-old age group. Ashley Nicoletti, Amanda Deenihan, Sean McHale and Jack Griffith also qualified for the national meet, which will be held in Humble, Texas, beginning July 21. Fairfield Sisters Face Heartfelt Connecticut Challenge After Cancer Loss FAIRFIELD, Conn. – For the Harrison sisters of Fairfield, their rides in the Connecticut Challenge will be all about family. Alexis Harrison will ride 50 miles, and Erin Harrison French will ride 25 miles in memory of their cousin, Chris Cook, who died at age 48 in April. Fairfield American Little League Heads For Next Round Of Playoffs FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield American Little League begins play Thursday in the Division 1 stage of the state tournament.
