Yankee Stadium Run Jogs Childhood Memories For New Canaan Woman NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- When New Canaan’s Catherine Calandra ran in the Damon Runyon 5k at Yankee Stadium for cancer research for the first time last year, it felt as if she was returning home. Wilton Wahoo Swimmers Take Top Honors In State Championship WILTON, Conn. -- Over 60 swimmers from the Wilton Y Wahoos competed in the 2014 Connecticut Senior Long Course Championship at Wesleyan University. The Wahoos took top honors in the men’s, women’s and combined team categories with a total of 1,388 points. Over the four-day meet, 16 Connecticut state records and three Wahoo team records were set. New Canaan, Westport Rowers Win Gold At U23 World Regatta FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- New Canaan’s Andrew Campbell and Westport’s Elizabeth Youngling won gold medals Sunday for the United States in the Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy. Westport’s Alexander Perkins added another medal for Fairfield County rowers with a bronze. Campbell won gold in the Lightweight Men’s Single Sculls. Norwalk's 9-Year-Old Cal Ripken All-Stars Take 3rd In State NORWALK, Conn. -- After a strong start, the Norwalk 9-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars were eliminated from the state tournament with consecutive losses. Norwalk ended up finishing third. West Hartford thew Norwalk into the losers' bracket with a 14-0 victory. Needing a win to stay alive, Norwalk lost its next game to New Milford, 9-4. Danbury Cal Ripken All-Stars Seek Funds For World Series Trip DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury’s 12-year-old Cal Ripken All-Star team is conducting an online fundraising campaign to raise money for a trip to the Cal Ripken World Series. The 14-player team has created an account on GoFundMe.com to raise money for the trip. The Cal Ripken World Series will be played Aug. 8 to Aug. 14 in Aberdeen, Md.
