Danbury Farmers Market Joins Food Day Celebration DANBURY, Conn. -- Food Day will be celebrated at the Danbury Farmers Market on Friday, Oct. 24. Mayor Mark Boughton will declare Food Day for Danbury with a proclamation at noon. The Danbury Farmers Market Community Collaborative and the Danbury Coalition for Healthy Kids are collaborating to bring Food Day to Danbury. Stamford Church Hosts Halloween Fundraiser For Wilderness School STAMFORD, Conn. -- Union Memorial Church is hosting "Trunk or Treat" on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-6 p.m. All proceeds for this event will go towards a scholarship to the Wilderness School in memory of Kyle Cruz. Cruz, 17, a city resident and student at Stamford High School, died on Oct. 30, 2013. A "Trunk or Treat" is a safe trick or treating event where people park in a lot and decorate their car or tailgate and hand out Halloween treats. Brien McMahon Makes Huge Jump In Football Rankings FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Darien High School retained the No. 1 spot in the state football rankings by MaxPreps, while Brien McMahon and Danbury made big jumps with big victories last weekend. Darien (6-0) continues to lead the state rankings ahead of Southington, Shelton and New Canaan. The big mover, however, were the Senators (5-1), who moved up 20 spots with a 49-21 win over Stamford. 75 World War II Heroes Take Honor Flight From White Plains To Washington WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- On Saturday morning, my wife and I drove to Westchester County Airport. We were not going anywhere ourselves but wanted to watch a special group of military veterans be honored and then board a plane to Washington where they were to spend the day visiting the World War II Memorials.
