Greenwich Triathlete Heads To Vermont With Hopeful, Heavy Heart GREENWICH, Conn. -- When the moving truck backs up to her Old Greenwich home Wednesday morning, Karen Newman will be leaving for Vermont with a fistful of medals in one hand and a Bible in the other. Single-Family Home Sales Fall 21 Percent In Westport FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Real estate sales throughout the Westport region fell compared with the third quarter of 2013, but analysts believe the unusually high activity last year caused the dip. “Last year was so high that we saw a 30 percent increase from 2012,’’ said Cheryl Scott-Daniels of CSD Select Homes in Westport. “There was so much pent-up demand that a lot of people made the decision to get off the fence. Single-Family Home Price Climbs 5.1 Percent In Stamford FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Activity slowed but average home prices grew in Stamford, Darien and New Canaan and reflected a third-quarter trend in Fairfield County. Sales fell by 8.8 percent in Stamford in the third quarter over the same time frame from last year. New Canaan (16.5 percent) and Darien (9.3 percent) also saw fewer homes exchange owners, according to statistics from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties. Sales Fall, But Average Home Price Climbs 31% In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich real estate activity in the third quarter reflected a countywide trend of declining sales but higher single home values. Sales fell 8 percent in the third quarter in Greenwich compared to the third quarter in 2013. However, the average sale price climbed 8 percent, according to a report from Houlihan Lawrence. Darien Falls To 3rd In Latest MaxPreps' Rankings FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Darien fell to third and New Canaan sits fourth in the latest state football rankings compiled by MaxPreps. Westchester County Teams Climb In MaxPreps' Football Rankings WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac remained No. 2 in New York while Mamaroneck jumped 18 spots in the latest state football rankings by MaxPreps. Semifinal times were also set for most games in the Section 1 playoffs on Friday and Saturday. Stepinac (8-0) trails Canisius of Buffalo in the MaxPreps’ rankings.
