Wilton Running Club Girls Capture Conference Honors WILTON, Conn. -- Wilton Running Club won the girls championship and the boys finished third Monday at the Western Connecticut Conference cross country championship at Ridgefield High School. Wilton totaled 36 points and won with ease over Roger Ludlowe of Fairfield, which had 98 points. Jockey Hollow of Monroe finished third with 124 points. Angela Saidman won the race for Wilton, covering the 1.86-mile course in 11:58.6. She was joined by teammates Tess Pissanelli (2), Emily Welch (4), Lauren Klym (8) and Lily Kealy (22). Former Staples Star Leads Unbeaten Amherst Football Team WESTPORT, Conn. -- Staples HIgh School graduate Nick Kelly is having a big year for the Amherst College football team. On Saturday, Nov.1, he’ll take on two former teammates in perhaps his team’s biggest game of the season. Amherst (6-0) travels to play Trinity College (5-1) at 12:30 p.m. in Hartford. Kelly, a sophomore running back, can expect to run into Trinity’s Rob Gau, a former Staples teammate and Trinity’s second-leading tackler. Teen Running NYC Marathon For Fairfield-Based CT Challenge GREENWICH, Conn. -- When Greenwich's Andrew Day volunteered to run the TCS New York City Marathon on behalf of the Fairield-based Connecticut Challenge, he knew it would require months of training. Norwalk 5th Grade Football Team Reaches League Title Game NORWALK, Conn. -- The undefeated 5th grade Norwalk Packers advanced to the Colonial Conference championship game after a 26-0 win over the Danbury Hatters. Mysonne Pollard led the Packers with two touchdown runs, an extra point and a TD pass. Pollard broke a scorless first half with a 42 yard touchdown run with 4 minutes remaining, and Camryn Edwards ran in the extra point.
