Census Finds Fairfield Is Fastest-Growing County In Connecticut FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Does it feel more crowded? Fairfield County was the fastest-growing county in Connecticut in 2013-14, according to statistics released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau. Fairfield County's population rose 0.4 percent from July 1, 2013, to July 1, 2014. The county added 3,319 people during that time period. Fairfield County is the most populous county in Connecticut with 945,438 residents, followed by Hartford County with 897,985 people and New Haven County with 861,277.
