Tractor-Trailer Fire Causes Heavy Delays On I-84 PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 84 in Brewster slowed commuter traffic on Monday morning. The accident occurred around 7 a.m. on Monday just east of the interchange with Interstate 684. Drivers coming off I-684 Northbound and heading east on I-84 were also tied up in traffic. The traffic headaches did not stop there. Drivers rolling through Danbury found traffic trouble due to early morning accidents in Newtown, which caused backups on the Eastbound side all the way back to Exit 5.
