LaGrange Association Library Pairs Gift Baskets With Winter Reading Program
LAGRANGE, N.Y. -- Another winner was chosen from the the LaGrange Association Library's "Warm Reads and Fabulous Films Adult Winter Reading Program." For the winter program, readers fill out a raffle entry form for each book they've read or film they've seen and submit them online or in-person via the library's raffle jar. Submitted forms are entered into a bi-weekly raffle drawing for a gift basket. The library currently has one basket remaining. LaGrange Association Library is located at 488 Freedom Plains Road. New Rochelle Special Events Bartender To Appear On Telemundo
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle special events bartender Arlen Gargagliano will appear on Telemundo channel 47 on Monday, Feb. 22. Gargagliano works with Alvin & Friends as party coordinator and special events bartender. She will show the crew at Acceso Total how to make her roasted jalapeno and mango margaritas. Potholes Cost Drivers $3 Billion Annually, AAA Northeast Says
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Pothole damage cost U.S. drivers about $3 billion annually, according to a new study from AAA. “In the last five years, 16 million drivers across the country have suffered pothole damage to their vehicles, with problems ranging from tire punctures and bent wheels to more expensive suspension damage,” said John Paul, AAA Northeast’s Car Doctor. U.S. drivers reported they paid an average of $300 for pothole-related vehicle damage. The study also reveals they experienced pothole issues more frequently in the past five years. OSSINING, N.Y. -- Stephen Hancock is expected to be appointed as the new principal of Roosevelt School. “I am humbled and excited to have been selected as Roosevelt School’s next principal,” said Hancock. “I have enjoyed my time at the middle school and will truly miss my AMD family members, who have helped mold me into the leader I am today. James Baldwin Music Festival Comes To Norwalk Community College
NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Community College's African Culture Club will sponsor the James Baldwin Music Festival Feb. 25 in the Pepsico Theatre. The event will celebrate and recognize Baldwin's life with a mix of different genres, as well as poetry, gospel choirs, poetry readings, jazz student acts and more in commemoration of Black History Month. Palisades Park Library Seeks Volunteers
PALISADES PARK, N.J. -- The Palisades Park Public Library is seeking high school students for volunteer work. Volunteer candidates must be approved by the library director, be 14 years of age and be respectful of their supervisors and library policies. A maximum of 40 hours per academic year and one or two hours per day are permitted. Volunteers will receive a letter of recommendation after completing their hours. MAHWAH, N.J. -- The Mahwah Public Library will host a practice test for the SAT Saturday, March 19. The practice test is the "new" SAT format and is presented by C2 education. The free test is open to students in grades 9-12. Participants are asked to bring a scientific calculator and some No. 2 pencils.
