Oil Spills Into Norwalk River At Ridgefield Border RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Oil began spilling into the Norwalk River at Wilton, Ridgefield and Redding from a storm drain this afternoon, according to The Ridgefield Press. Ridgefield Fire Chief Kevin Tappe said the spill's source must be the business at 58 Ethan Alley Highway or a pipe behind it, The Ridgefield Press reported. Firefighters at the scene put absorbent pads into the storm drain by the railroad tracks at the location and booms and pads in the culvert to prevent any more oil from draining into the river, The Ridgefield Press said. The Invasives Project In Pound Ridge Talks Vine Cutting At Gathering POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- The Invasives Project will discuss vine cutting at the Pound Ridge Library on Feb. 20. Bring Your Kids To Somers Library To Learn About Local History SOMERS, N.Y. -- Teacher Doris Jane Smith, the Somers town historian, will lead a local history program for children at Somers Library beginning Tuesday, Feb. 23. "Stepping Back in Time" will incorporate books, crafts and more to teach children about local history in five bi-weekly programs. The program dates are Feb. 23, March 8 and 22 and April 5 and 19. Work Begins On New Bridge Maintenance Facility In Tarrytown Work is set to begin on a new bridge maintenance facility in Tarrytown. “Our new maintenance building will serve as an essential addition to the new iconic crossing,” said Maria Lehman, New York State Thruway Authority interim executive director and chief operating officer. “Fast, easy access to the Thruway means reduced response times in emergencies, while our environmentally-friendly facility will provide adequate space for our employees to keep equipment in optimal operating condition.” The building will be used to maintain the new three-mile crossing over the Hudson River. Go Behind Scenes On Chase With Clarkstown PD K-9 CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- The Clarkstown Police Department has released a video of a K-9 chase. In the behind-the-scenes video, a camera mounted on the K-9 shows the the police dog's point of view as it runs through the woods to catch the suspect. In this case, the suspect was an officer's heavily padded arm.

Proceeds of the contest will go directly to the planting and caring for trees in Darien. Leonia United Methodist Church Organizes Fundraiser LEONIA, N.J. -- The Leonia United Methodist Church will have a fundraiser bluegrass concert March 12 with the Foggy Minded Boys and the Foggettes. The suggested donation is $25 per person or $50 per family. The fundraiser also will feature a silent auction and dessert.
