Mount Vernon Stages Black History Month Challenge MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Armory will host the ninth annual Black History Month Challenge celebrating famous authors Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Ta-Nehisi Coates and Toni Morrison on Wednesday. The challenge will feature questions related to all aspects of past and recent black history in a quiz show format.  Participating teams are composed of members of school-based clubs and after-school programs from junior and high schools in Mount Vernon. The Mount Vernon Armory is at 144 N. Fifth Ave.  The event runs from 3-6 p.m.

Lyndhurst, North Arlington Bowlers Take Top Spots At State Tourney LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Bowlers from Lyndhurst and North Arlington recently placed sixth and ninth, respectively, in their groups at the state tournament in North Brunswick, according to NorthJersey.com. Lyndhurst finished in sixth place with a score of 2,775 in Group 2, while North Arlington won ninth place with a score of 2,556 in Group 1, NorthJersey.com reported.
