Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Ex-Ocean City Sergeant Gets 5 Years For Sexual Contact With A Child: Prosecutor A former sergeant with the Ocean City Police Department was sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison for having sexual relations with a child, authorities said. Tyrone Rolls, 52, of the Marmora section of Upper Township, was sentenced on Friday, July 21, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland. Rolls also was ordered not to have any contact with the victim — who is now an adult — or the victim's family. 2 Guns Recovered, 3 Arrested After Atlantic City Drug Deal: Police Atlantic City police recovered two handguns and arrested three people after officers allegedly witnessed a drug deal, authorities said. On Tuesday, July 18, at about 8 p.m., Detectives Alberto Valles and Christopher Dodson and Officers Brandon Bower and William Harned were patrolling the Bungalow Park section of Atlantic City. Loss Of Beloved K9 Neiko Mourned By South Jersey Police A beloved K9 officer with the Egg Harbor Township Police Department has died at the age of 11, authorities said. "It is with heavy heart that we report the passing of Egg Harbor Township Police K9 Neiko," the department announced on Facebook on Friday, July 21. Neiko was a Belgian Shepherd that started his service with the Township in May 2014, after graduating from the John “Sonny” Burke K9 Patrol Academy. "It was not in the line of duty. Hong Kong Scammer Defrauds Central Jersey Business Out Of $12.8K Via Text: Police A Central Jersey business owner lost $12,800 in an international scam, authorities said. The unidentified proprietor on Union Avenue in Middlesex Borough reported the theft on July 11, police said. The business told Middlesex police they received a text message from an individual claiming to be from a government agency, "threatening to suspend their business license." The business owner was convinced to wire $12,800 to Hong Kong in order to supposedly rectify the issue, police said. After doing so, they realized it was a scam, police said. No arrests had been made.

3 Teens Arrested After Wild Chase In Stolen Car That Catches Fire In South Jersey: Police Three teenagers were arrested after fleeing police in a stolen car that later crashed and caught fire, authorities said. A Galloway police officer rescued the unconscious driver of the car that landed in an Absecon marsh during the chase, Galloway Township police said. The boy was hospitalized. Atlantic City Police Payroll Employee Billed For Hours She Wasn't At Work: Prosecutor A civilian employee of the Atlantic City Police Department, who was in charge of payroll, billed for hours of work when she wasn't at work, authorities said. Suzanne Ricketts, 43, of Pleasantville, was indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury for official misconduct, theft by deception, and computer crimes on Thursday, July 20, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. 2 Crashes Reported On Atlantic City Expressway There were two rush-hour crashes on the Atlantic City Expressway, authorities said. Neither 7:30 a.m. crash in Egg Harbor Township resulted in serious injuries, according to New Jersey State Police. Faulty Dishwasher Killed 77-Year-Old Woman In Ocean County Fire: Prosecutor A faulty dishwasher is believed to have caused the fire that killed a 77-year-old woman in Berkeley Township, authorities said. Serious 4-Vehicle Crash Shuts Garden State Parkway: Njsp A four-vehicle crash closed the southbound express lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Middletown during rush-hour, authorities said. The crash occurred at 4:44 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 at milepost 110 of the parkway, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a spokesman with the New Jersey State Police. Bicyclist, 40, Killed In Fatal Jersey Shore Crash: Police A 40-year-old bicyclist from Middletown was killed in a crash, authorities said. Crystal Kaylor was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Wednesday, July 19, according to Middletown police.
