Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Body Of 31-Year-Old Swimmer Washes Up At Seaside Park A body washed up along the shore at Seaside Park on Wednesday morning, Sept. 6, authorities said. The body of Wilmer Chavez, 31, of Howell, was recovered off the G Street beach, Seaside Park police said. Chavez was among a group of swimmers who were struggling in the ocean around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3 off Stockton Avenue. Former Sea Bright Police Officer Admits Stalking Ex-Girlfriend, Slashing Her Tires: Prosecutor A former Sea Bright police officer has admitted to committing a series of crimes against an ex-girlfriend, authorities said. Erich A. Bennett, 47, pleaded guilty to computer theft, criminal mischief, hindering apprehension, and stalking, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. During his plea hearing, Bennett acknowledged that between October 2022 and January 2023, he engaged in conduct that would put the victim in fear. Police ID Pilot Killed In Crash That Sparked Jersey Shore Wildfire The pilot killed in a plane crash near Robert J. Miller Airpark in Lacey Township has been identified, authorities said. Oscar Molina, 61, of Long Brach was killed when his Cirrus SR20 crashed at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 near the Ocean County airpark, Lacey police said. Man Charged With Manslaughter After Victim Dies From Rock Injury In South Jersey: Prosecutor A man who was struck by a rock during a fight has died, authorities said. Biz Owner Used Drone To Drop Dye Into Atlantic County Pools: Police A 45-year-old man from Atlantic County has been arrested in connection with dropping dye from a drone into local pools, authorities said. Patrick Spina 4th, of Absecon, owner of Comfort Solutions Heating and Cooling, is facing multiple counts of criminal mischief, according to Absecon police. Man, 40, Shot Dead In Trenton: Prosecutor A 40-year-old Trenton man was shot dead over the weekend, authorities said. The victim has been identified as Ronald Taylor, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. A few minutes after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 2, Trenton police responded to the 200 block of Brunswick Avenue on a report of a male shot. Responding officers found an unresponsive male in a vacant lot appearing to suffer from a gunshot wound. Man, 25, Shot Dead In Cumberland County: Police A 25-year-old Bridgeton man was shot and killed, authorities said. On Sunday, Sept. 3, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Bridgeton police responded to Mount Vernon Street on for a report of a gunshot victim, Bridgeton police said. Police Seek Help ID'ing Dead Man In South Jersey A body was found by authorities at a Salvation Army in South Jersey. On Sunday, Sept. 4 at 11:08 a.m., Bridgeton police were dispatched to 29 W. Commerce Street for a male who appeared to be deceased on the property. Bridgeton Fire/EMS responded and the male was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
