Former Cortlandt Town Supervisor Dies After Illness A man from Northern Westchester who was known for his dedication to serving his community has died after battling an illness.  Former Cortlandt Town Supervisor Charles DiGiacomo died on Thursday, Dec. 29 at the age of 82, according to his obituary.  Originally a native of Ossining before moving to Cortlandt Manor, DiGiacomo graduated from Ossining High School in 1958 as class president before earning his bachelor's degree from Pace University. Video: Police Help Hawk Fly Free After It Crashes Into Greenburgh Home A hawk that accidentally crashed through the window of a Westchester County home was saved thanks to the help of police officers who knew just what to do.  On Monday, Jan. 2, the bird of prey flew into a home in Greenburgh, leading the homeowner to call police for help, Greenburgh police said.  After arriving at the house, officers were able to throw a blanket over the distressed bird and carry it back outside.  There, the bird was able to regain its bearings and eventually fly away, as seen in a short video of the incident released by the department. Person Seriously Injured After Car Crashes Into Stone Wall In Somers One person suffered serious injuries after a car hit a stone wall in Northern Westchester.  The crash happened on Monday, January 2 around 4 p.m., when firefighters in Somers responded to an accident on Butlerville Road and found the vehicle heavily damaged after hitting the wall.  Two people were injured in the crash after being ejected from the car. One of the occupants suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, firefighters said. Both were taken to a hospital in the area.

Rolled-Over Box Truck Delays Traffic On Highway In Westchester County A box truck that tipped over briefly caused lane closures on a Westchester County highway, police said. Stolen Vehicle From Out Of State Found In Armonk: Police A stolen vehicle from another state was found parked on a Northern Westchester street thanks to a call from an observant resident.  On Monday, Dec. 26, around 6 a.m., an Armonk resident told police that a BMW with New Jersey registration was illegally parked on Banksville Road, North Castle Police said. After authorities looked the vehicle up, they realized that it had been stolen from Elizabeth, New Jersey, and confirmed this with Elizabeth's police department.  The vehicle was then impounded in Armonk Garage.
