Michael Matteo, age 57, of Albany, was arraigned in Albany County Court on Thursday, Oct. 19. According to Albany Police, the victim reached out to investigators in August 2023 saying they had paid Matteo for construction work that was never completed. Capital Region Man Sexually Abused Child For Years, Jury Finds A 29-year-old man from the region is facing decades in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a young child for years. Douglas Eckler, of Cohoes, was found guilty of sex crimes by a jury in Albany County Supreme Court on Wednesday, Oct. 18. According to prosecutors, Eckler repeatedly sexually abused the victim for several years, between the spring of 2020 and February 2023. Man Films Himself Abusing Dog At Capital Region Home, Posts On Social Media, Police Say A 24-year-old man from the region is accused of physically abusing his dog and posting it on social media. Jahmir Williams, of Albany, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 17, on suspicion of animal cruelty. According to Albany Police, someone contacted the department saying a dog had been abused at an Albany home in September 2023. An investigation found that Williams repeatedly struck the animal with a leash and then posted video of the abuse on social media.
