Driver Going 95 MPH On LIE After 'Glass Of Wine' Among 6 Thanksgiving Weekend DWI Busts: Cops The long Thanksgiving weekend included a stint in jail for several people accused of driving drunk on Long Island roadways. Six suspects were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Suffolk County between Wednesday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 26, according to sheriff’s officials. Among them was 33-year-old Richard Pino, of Nesconset, who was busted going 95 miles-per-hour eastbound on the Long Island Expressway in Brookhaven, deputies said. Full Closures Scheduled For Portion Of Long Island Expressway A scheduled highway closure could spell delays for Long Island drivers this week. Both directions of the Long Island Expressway are scheduled to close nightly at exit 63 in Brookhaven beginning Monday, Nov. 27. I-495 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews facilitate a bridge deck renewal project, according to the Department of Transportation. The 36-year-old wife and mother from Cohoes in Albany County died early Wednesday, Nov. 8, due to complications experienced during childbirth, according to her obituary. Bicyclist Struck, Killed On Capital Region Road A 62-year-old man has died after being struck by a pickup truck while bicycling on a busy roadway in the region. The Albany County incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in Colonie, on Central Avenue near Elmwood Street. A preliminary investigation found that Joseph Crandall was riding eastbound on Central Avenue in the lane closest to the curb when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck and ejected from his bike. Missing Capital Region Man Found Dead The search for a missing man from the region has ended in tragedy. Albany County resident Richard Ryther, age 71, of Glenmont, was reported missing Friday, Nov. 24. On Sunday, Nov. 26, Bethlehem Police announced that Ryther was found dead in a wooded area at the Moh-He-Con-Nuck Nature Preserve. The preserve is located just yards from Ryther’s home on River Road. His death does not appear suspicious, police said. The Albany County Coroner’s Office will determine an official cause of death. Rensselaer County resident Emily Dziamba, age 30, of North Greenbush, had last been seen at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26. 'Disgusted': Jail Guard Forces Long Island Inmate Into Sex Act, DA Says A corrections officer at a Long Island jail is accused of forcing an inmate to perform a sex act on him. Jason Middleton, age 35, of Central Islip, was arrested Friday, Nov. 24, stemming from an alleged incident at the Suffolk County jail in Riverhead. HVAC Contractor Stiffs Long Island Homeowner Out Of $4K, Police Say The owner of a Long Island HVAC company is accused of taking a homeowner’s money and running. Francis Warner, age 41, of Brentwood, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to Suffolk County Police. Warner owns Warner Brothers Air Max HVAC, based in Medford. A North Bellport man told police he hired Warner in October 2023 to do HVAC work on his home and had paid Warner $3,850.
