Ossining Girls Basketball Team Draws No. 1 State Preseason Ranking OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School's girls basketball is ranked No. 1 by MaxPreps as a new season gets set to tip off. The Pride finished 26-2 last season under coach Dan Ricci. The team opens its season on Dec. 3 at the Art Turner Tournament in Baltimore against Roland Park Country, also of Baltimore. The Pride have won four straight New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships. Darien 7th Grade Teams Share Title In Fairfield County Football League DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Junior Football League Blue and Wave teams were named co-champions after both teams won their semifinal games in the Fairfield County Football League. The Blue team finished 8-2. It won a share of the league title with a 21-0 win over Westport in the semifinals. The Wave finished 6-4, and finished the season with a 40-27 win over Wilton in the semifinals. 3 Coaches Step Down After Long Run With Fairfield Giants Youth Football FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Three men who worked together for 13 years in the Fairfield Giants Pop Warner program coached their final games on Sunday. Head coach Mark Innaimo and assistant coaches Lee Battista and Ronnie Ciccia have been serving the youth of Fairfield and Fairfield Pop Warner since 2003. The coaches touched the lives of more than 400 players, including five children of their own between Innaimo and Battista. Danbury High Soccer Team Disqualified From State Title Game DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury High School's boys soccer team has been disqualified from playing in Saturday's Class LL championship game because of an ineligible player, according to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Association. Shelton, which lost to Danbury, 4-2, in the semifinals, will now play Farmington in Saturday's title game at Willow Brook Park. The CIAC said Danbury was disqualified when it was discovered the Hatters used a player in its win over Shelton who was deemed ineligible due to an error with report cards.
