Camp activities include computer coding, science experiments, critical thinking activities, public speaking, ping pong, chess club and yoga. Come Celebrate With Hawthorne FD On Its First 100 Years HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- The Hawthorne Fire Dept. is hosting a community celebration on Saturday, June 18, to mark 100 years of volunteer service to the residents of Hawthorne and surrounding communities. The festivities will include beer, soda and food, as well as music and entertainment for kids -- including a fire truck slide and display of fire trucks. The department will also be selling commemorative shirts, coins, books, mugs and more. The event will be from noon until 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Bottagra Restaurant, 80 Wagaraw Rd., in Hawthorne.

Allendale Car Wash Saturday Benefits Housing Group ALLENDALE, N.J. -- Allendale Housing Inc. is holding a car wash on Saturday, June 18. Allendale Housing, a local non-profit established by the borough, has partnered with other organizations on housing projects for people with special needs. One such project is the 1.5-acre Crescent Commons, a cluster of three buildings with an interior courtyard completed in 2012. It houses 24 residents with either developmental disabilities or multiple sclerosis. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Crescent Commons Court, located on West Crescent Avenue across from Crestwood Park.
