Darien Football Team Named Among State's "Fab Five" DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien High School was named one of Connecticut’s “Fab Five” preseason football teams by Max Preps. Darien ranked fifth on the Max Preps' list, which listed Southington as the top team in the state. Hand of Madison ranked second followed by Ansonia and Fairfield Prep. Darien went 12-2 last season but expects to have strong offensive and defensive lines led by George Reed, Mark Evanchick, Jack Tyrrel and Jack Griffiths. New Canaan's Roger Sherman Inn On Market For $6 Million NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan was officially listed for sale last week by Halstead Property with an asking price of $6 million. The house dates to the 1700s, according to the Inn’s website, when it was called the Mitchell-Bond House. The current owners, Joseph and Nes Jaffre, purchased the Inn at 195 Oenoke Road in 2008. The Inn is named after the famous patriot who is the only delegate to the Continental Congress to sign all four of the key documents of the Revolutionary period. Irene Hartman, 93, Fairfield Resident, Town Employee FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Irene F. Hartman, 93, wife of the late Raymond R. Hartman, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. Mrs. Hartman was employed by the Town of Fairfield for 16 years prior to her retirement.
