Wilton 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team Falls In Tournament Semifinals WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton 7th grade girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a hard-fought 46-33 loss to Southbury in the semifinals of the Fairfield County Basketball League tournament. Wilton advanced to the semifinals with a 32-21 win over Westport. Wilton jumped out to a halftime lead of 16-9 on the hot shooting of Paula Perez, who finished the game with 8 points. Connecticut Economy Ranks 23rd In Magazine's Report FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut's economy is ranked 23rd nationally, according to a story on Business Insider. The story ranked ranked the states' economies on six measures: recent change in housing prices, nonfarm payroll job growth, unemployment rate, GDP per capita, average weekly wage, and state government surplus and deficit. Putnam Valley Man, 43, Charged With Unlicensed Operation PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Putnam Valley man was charged with unlicensed operation on Feb. 25 in Patterson. Deputy Sheriff Alexander Ruhe responded to a report of a property damage automobile accident at the intersection of Route 311 and I-84. The deputy found that one of the involved drivers, identified as Arsenio R. Ortiz, 43, of 130 Eastern Road, Putnam Valley, held a suspended license. Bedford Businessman Helps Reunite Purple Heart With Family Of WW II Vet BEDFORD N.Y. -- A Bedford resident and businessman reunited the Purple Heart of a World War II veteran with his family in Florida. The medallion was discovered by his son in a box that had belonged to a pawn shop. Camillo Santomero, whose family owns a number of retail buildings in the Danbury, Conn. said his son, also named Camillo, discovered the Purple Heart. John Jay High School Students Travel To Quebec CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- A group of 41 John Jay High School juniors enrolled in French spent a four-day weekend in French-speaking Quebec City, Canada, in early February. Students braved the cold weather to learn about Quebec City and its cultural offerings through a rich offering of indoor and outdoor activities. Mamaroneck Unveils Schedule App For High School Sports Teams MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck athletics launched a web app that will enable fans to view up-to-date schedules for all Mamaroneck teams. The app works on any device and can be added right on to a phone home screen.
