Report: 7 Percent Of Putnam Residents Enrolled In Obamacare PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Seven percent of residents in Putnam County are enrolled in health insurance programs created through the exchanges in the Affordable Care Act, according to a story in Politco. Also, the number of Putnam residents who enrolled in ACA plans in the second year of enrollment increased by 16 percent. The state average was 12 percent. Hannigan was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Brooklyn to John and Julia McCleary Hannigan. Westchester Legend Elton Brand Retires After 16 Years In NBA PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill High grad Elton Brand retired Thursday after 16 years in the National Basketball Association. Brand was the first draft pick of the Chicago Bulls in the 1999 draft. Brand also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks. Brand was a two-time NBA all-star, but injuries limited his playing time later in his career. He averaged 24.6 points per game for the Clippers in 2005-06, the best of his career. He averaged 11.6 rebounds for the Clippers in 2001-02. For his career, he averaged 16.1 points and 8.6 rebounds. …

Norwalk's Redd Suffers Major Knee Injury In NFL Preseason Game NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Silas Redd suffered an apparent season-ending knee injury Thursday in the Washington Redskins' preseason football game against Cleveland. Redd is believed to have torn the anterior cruciate ligament and possibly the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, according to The Washington Post.
